- Impact
- “I warmly welcome the proposal to bring this prestigious development to London. The project demonstrates great confidence in the city and will be a significant addition to the legacy East London is seeing following the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Integral to London’s success in attracting visitors is the range of excellent hotels London has to offer – the hotel would be a fantastic addition to the capital, and would bring substantial benefits for visitors to The O2 and the wider area, as well as securing additional benefits to the local economy and enhance the area’s reputation as a key visitor destination.”

Project description
Located next to the O2 Arena, the new £121m hotel is being built as part of a development of a 7.6 acre site on Greenwich Peninsula which will also see the construction of a separate 23-storey tower (Peninsula Tower) featuring 100 serviced apartments. A design & build scheme by Balfour Beatty, the 5-star hotel will be operated by InterContinental Hotel Group. The hotel is 19-storeys in height and features the largest special event space in Europe – the ballroom. This massive 4,800 sq m of space overlooks Canary Wharf and will hold 2,400 diners in a column-free chamber measuring 7.7m high, 77m in length and 41m wide. The hotel also offers leisure facilities including a health spa, several restaurants and a panoramic Sky Bar. Balfour Beatty appointed Siniat as its key drylining supply partner.
