Education

For larger projects, we add value before, during and after the construction phase. Working with the project team, we can support the initial tender, finding ways to improve aesthetics or building performance, cut construction costs, reduce build times or suggest ways to lower on-going maintenance costs.

SYSTEMS FOR EDUCATION

FIRE PROTECTION AND SHAFTWALLS

Siniat Shaftwall range use a specially designed system to protect voids and shafts in educational buildings. It resists pressure changes and enables installation from one side of the shaft only.

Fire protection shaftwall systems are typically needed for:

  • Service shafts & plant rooms
  • Stairway walls & lift shafts
  • Isolated passages

PARTITIONS

The Siniat range of metal stud profiles provides system solutions for education building projects. Combining the right plasterboard, fixings, frame and finishing products gives partition solutions up to the most demanding levels of fire, acoustic and thermal performance.

Partition systems are typically needed for:

  • Auditoria
  • Classrooms and lecture theatres
  • Circulation areas and corridors
  • Libraries and study rooms
  • Music rooms

SUSPENDED CEILINGS

Siniat Floor and Ceiling systems are used to achieve acoustic and fire rated solutions for education projects. There are a large range of solutions available, from direct soffit application to the creation of full supporting frames, which can be built in large runs.

Floors and ceiling systems are typically needed for:

  • Cafeterias
  • Auditoria
  • Entrance areas
  • Floors between classrooms

Bradford College

Bradford College

Bradford College has invested £50million in the creation of a new campus building - The David Hockney Building. The six-storey, 23,000m2 structure will replace two existing buildings to provide a cutting-edge learning environment. Named after one of the UK's most famous artists, the design brief was to create a light and airy space that would be sympathetic to the area's architectural heritage. Bond Bryan Architects and BAM Construction were appointed to deliver the design and build, but with cradle access on site a problem, an innovative solution was sought at the tender stage to ensure the build remained on schedule.
Penarth Learning Community

Penarth Learning Community

The award winning Penarth Learning Community is a key part of Vale Of Glamorgan's 21st Century Schools Investment Programme, merging existing schools and also providing a Special Educational Needs facility including a 19-bed respite centre. Siniat worked with architects, HLM, main contractor Bouygues UK and sub-contractors M&P Contractors and Neath Dry Lining to develop and deliver an innovative specification and final build. With the brief to create an exceptional learning environment but within a tight timescale, Siniat supplied its Megadeco, Pregybel and Metal systems to meet these demands.
South Devon UTC

South Devon UTC

South Devon UTC will be the area's first University Technical College, offering learning opportunities for 600 young people between 14-18. The college has been built on a challenging site in Newton Abbot, and will specialise in water, engineering and the environment, to help boost the numbers of technicians in the area. The four storey 4700m2 facility with a full height atrium is also the first rural UTC to be constructed. With innovation and sustainability key to the features and build process, GTEC Weather Defence, which has a fully recyclable gypsum core was chosen for the frame based construction methods, to provide a faster way to weathertight and airtight the building.
